Frequently Asked Questions
We accept children from 3 months to 5 years old, when they start primary school.
Tours are only held on Fridays fortnightly at 10am. We recommend visiting during activity hours to see the nursery in action.
Not at all. Many families don't speak Spanish at home and their children learn naturally at nursery.
Studies show that bilingualism actually helps language acquisition and bilingual children speak more words than their monolingual peers in total. The rule of thumb is that if a child has a speech and language problem it is in spite of, not because of, bilingualism.
We have to assess the children's language skills in English due to the EYFS requirements so it is something we keep an eye on and children have access to English in a number of their extra-curricular activities like Science Club, cookery, Prodigies Music, StoryTime Chess. We also have a few native English speakers amongst the staff. We introduce Spanish gradually when they first start if they don't speak Spanish at home.
Yes, we accept several types of early years funding. All funded children must provide proof of eligibility. While funded hours are covered by the funding entitlement, nursery places themselves are not free. Families usually choose to contribute towards our chargeable extras, which include meals, snacks, and everyday items such as nappies, wipes, and sun cream. This contribution allows us to maintain a high-quality, consistent provision for all our families.
Yes. Our staff are first aid trained and hold valid DBS checks, which are regularly reviewed.
Unfortunately not. We recommend a minimum attendance of 2 days per week (equivalent to 20 hours), as we are a Spanish-speaking setting. In our experience, children adapt more quickly and feel more comfortable with our routines when attending at least 2 days per week.
We currently offer a fixed daily rate, and you're free to drop off and pick up your child according to your needs, but the fee remains the same.
We operate a dress for mess policy! We recommend that children come dressed in comfortable, inexpensive clothes and practical shoes that they can run, jump, climb, explore, eat messy food, and get covered in paint, gloop, and all sorts of creative materials without worry. We regularly plan sensory and messy play activities and these can happen on any day of the week -sometimes without much notice.
